World Book Night
Click on the book that you want to give away to access the entry form:
The Books Available
Then you need to explain why you want to give your book choice away.
I have been unable to find the closing date...it only says givers will be informed in mid February...

The whole 'World Book Night' annual event is not really a 'competition'. It is an event to promote books and reading by publishers making available books for lovers of that book to give away to people they believe would enjoy reading them. Maybe others will disagree but I am not sure this event would want to be classified as a competition on here as people do need to have a genuine commitment to books and reading to be chosen to take part.0

Many of us discussed this last year when I posted it. People on this board are interested in reading too! The general consensus was that any exposure was good and helps the promotion in the long term. Even people going for a look would increase the number of visitors to the site, thus increasing its success. Many of us 'won' that may not have had any idea that the promotion was running until stumbling across it here. I know of many on this board that gave their books to schools, hospitals and nursing homes. We're just as committed to reading as say someone who saw the advert in the national papers.0

I can see that there are different ways of looking at this but, if anything, I think it should be in the 'Freebies' section rather than 'Competititons' as that would be more what it is. Guess we'll have to agree to differ on this.
I am not, by the way, saying people on here are not interested in reading, I never once suggested this, I just feel by listing it as a 'competition' it is not really entering into the spirit of what the whole event is about, the promotion of literature.0 -
