cleaning cream settee's

Options
I have a fabric cream settee that is looking grubby. I can wash the covers in the washer (hopfully) but the arms of the settees do not zip off so anygood ideas how to get these clean. Just grubby and dirty with day to day living though one has a water mark on it. Any OS remedies im thinking stardrops, or other storecupboard supplies.
Also are micro cloths just a duster, or is it a dish cloth?

Ive read that stardrops is good for leather suites, not sure on fabric though, wouldnt think it do any harm as some people use it for stains on clothes. Try a small area first (out of sight) to test.

I used to have a grey draylon/velour type suite, and I used to use my steamer to steam clean it. Then I used some lace effect covers which fitted on the arms to prevent further grubbiness.

First of all it is worth trying a "dry method", get an old toothbrush and brush in some cornflour, work it(gently) into the fibres & then brush out the excess, to remove all traces of flour you can use a dry synthetic sponge.

If the "dry" method doesn't work, you could try the "foaming stardrops" method.

I found an old fairy foaming bottle and having washed it out filled it with 30 mls of stardrops and then topped it up with water..................shake gently!

The "almost dry foam" makes a good spot cleaner and I have used it on my clothes and carpets to very good effect.

    * A lot of the cleaning/spot cleaning Ideas I post are very similar as I use few but multi use items and it almost always saves money by using what you have in..................so appolgies if I am a cleaning bore LOL!
