What can you buy when you don't have a date.

I'm absolutely loving VistaPrint!

For those of you who don't know, I'm getting married in 2013 but we can't pick the date until the January of that year.

So I've been picking up bits and pieces as and when I see them.

So far I've got a big banner with our names on and Just Married (maybe for top table, not sure yet). I've got a banner for the 'top tip' tree I'm having explaining what it is and 250 business cards personalized for people to write there top tip for a happy marriage on. I've ordered a large poster to go inside our Signing Frame to explain what to do. I've ordered some pens with our names on and again Just married for people to use to fill out the 'top tip' cards. And ordered some envelope seals again personalised. All for free (apart from £5.23 postage:T)

Can you think of anything else that I could maybe order that doesn't have to have a date, venue etc on?

Also a huge thank you to you all for your comments on Vistaprint, I'm loving it!
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

start buying little crafty bits to make invitations and then just stick on printed sheet when you get your date - the same with place cards, table plan and other stationery and then just stick on the names etc when you know what is happening

make your own bouquet and button holes with fake flowers

have you looked at the vistaprint mugs so you could have one saying Mr Jax and another saying Mrs Jax or personalised wine glasses for the day for the top table (you could make yourself with some glass paint and some cheap wine glasses) MOB FOB FOG MOG BM GM etc (hehehehehe love these abbriviations and i cant spell lol)

you can start your skincare now

if having start thinking about favours you can buy and cut organza as is much cheaper than buying the circles

if you want a sweety buffet stat collecting cool jars from charity shops or asda, ikea etc

think about your centre pieces is there any little bits you could buy for them and build it up?

gifts for the BMs and GMs (obviously non dated) oh yeh and H2B lol

you can get things like flower girl baskets, ring pillows, cake knives, cake stands, and january sales for any decorations you would like such as fairy lights

start your scrap book (if you want one) start making a slideshow or something for the rehersal dinner or reception

get H2B into dance lessons for first dance

and use this time to get really organised have a book or folder and get everything into order

seeing as you have so much time are there any skills you have that you could use to exchange for some of the things that you want?
or can you make some more of the invites etc and sell them to recoup your costs?

you have loads of time so MSEing is really on your side!!!!!

(just realised how long that is sorry!)
The only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 5

It's not too long at all - perfect. In fact I'm going to print it out and use it as my guide :T

I've found my dress but just can't find it at a price I'd like to pay. So I know I have loads of time and so keep typing it in on a google search and emailing dress shops to see if they have any in the sale. I WILL GET THIS DRESS :rotfl:

    Thanks loads.

Just as a word of warning I would say don't buy too much now as your ideas and tastes will change between now and 2013. You'll see things on blogs and websites and here on MSE that you'll wish you'd done but it's too late as you've already bought, for example, a hundred place-name cards when now you'd rather use luggage tags.

I've been planning my November wedding (two weeks to go!!) since January 2011 so haven't had this happen too much, but my sister-in-law has been buying things for hers over a year in advance and is now changing her mind about some of them after having seen a better/cheaper/easier way of doing it.

It's good to spread the cost if you can but not if you end up paying for a second lot of stuff after going off the first!

Thanks Zimm190, a very good point. Although I'm trying to buy bits that don't really change (like the pens with our names one etc, but not the frame in case we change our decor....). We won't be having a colour scheme and theme is just 'beach' so have been collecting shells for place names etc.

Good luck for two weeks time! So exciting! I love this board!

I would add: you can buy accessories, shoes etc, also get quotes from suppliers so you can compare them now, then go to them in order of preference when you know your date and haggle like mad!

How did you get all that stuff from Vistaprint for free? Am I missing something???

I found it on a thread on here.

Create a visaprint account and upload some photos.

    Wait.

It took me a couple of days and then got an email offering banners, stickers, cards, thank you notes etc etc free (you pay for P & P) which is only £5something if you go for 21 day delivery............... which I can as my wedding isn't till 2013!

I also have made 3 wall calendars with a different photo for each month and got them free too - so thats stocking fillers for xmas sorted! oooo and a mug of my daughter and her friend for her friend's xmas pressie.

You can only order 4 'free' things at a time but that can be 250 business cards and 10 Christmas cards etc (it's not per item as in 1 business card...)

The free pens are just 1 x pen, so will have to place a few orders as I'd like 10 :T

I've already asked you good people for help on the dress and no-one could find it within my budget. It's Benjamin Roberts Tia collection number 5011 in ivory (not champagne as on the website)

My local stockist has it in a 14 (I'd like a 10-12) for £600, she is going to let me know when it hits her sale rack so I can have first refusal and have it altered. Ideally I'd like to pay no more than £400....... even less if possible.

I do have over a year to wait though so it might well be do-able.

I have requests on preloved, and loads of other sites too. Fingers crossed.

Must add, just arrived back from holiday today from a big Vistaprint delivery. The banners are FAB and I can't believe they're free! It's around 1meter long and maybe half a meter wide and made from a kind of canvas type material, very very very much worth the nothing I spent on them :j

The stickers and cards and everything is really good and I would highly recommend trying to get as much as you can at discount - or free :T

How do Vista print make money? It's great that people can get free things, I just wonder how they do it.
I will be ordering my stationary and bits and pieces from there as well!

I have no idea. On holiday last week my H2B said 'so what EXACTLY have we ordered from Vistaprint'. I listed banners, pens with our names on, stickers, cards, business cards (to go on the tree with people's comments), photo mugs as gifts, the list went on. He just turned and gave me one of those looks that shows he doesn't believe it was free and I'm hiding something :rotfl:

He's at work today and I'll have great pleasure in showing him our box of goodies this evening and the invoice showing £5+ postage only......:T
