Hi, I wonder if you can help me with some ideas please?
It's my mum's 65th birthday in a few weeks, and as a suprise I've decided to throw her a 60's party ( she's never had her own party before).
I think it'll be fab, I am hunting down lava lamps. have decided on 60's food, including artic roll & black forest gateau & babycham!
But I'm stuck on what to wear.
I'm no skinny minnie, and budget is tight as I'll need to get my mum a dress to change into so she's not the odd one out when she arrives, but all the cute short Quant style dresses are far too short for my tree trunks!
Does anyone know where I might find retro fabric, and I could make elasticated bell bottoms to go over leggings maybe? Or to make headbands for the men?
If you have any fancy dress, games or decorating the house ideas please help!
Many thanks indeed

HI,
There's a website called online-fabrics, they have a really groovy looking fabric ( in their funky fabric section) which might suit the occasion!
Don't know what it's like to shop there, sorry!0 -

Really old people tend to wear clothes they bought in middle age and have never updated. Do you know any of them?
I found a Safari Suit in a charity shop ages back, so never despair.0 -
Try charity shops for clothes and maybe even table decoration type things, they sell old awful stuff in most of them lol - as for games what about twister?
I'm a 70's child (just) so am afraid this is all well before I was born!!
Peacocks might have some clothes in you could adapt.

We had a 60's party and decorated the house with classic album covers and posters from the era. Not sure how you would go about getting hold of stuff like that cheaply, these were things we had anyway...along with the oil lamp projector! I just thought I'd mention it as it looked great and lots of people tend to have the albums gathering dust somewhere. We should have more parties but it takes too long to clear up the burnt carpet and glitter...Many thanks to everyone who posts competitions and works so hard to provide all the answers!
