EGG Repayment with ARC now Moorcroft

Options
Hi folks,

I've been working overseas for the last 4 weeks and haven't missed any payments towards repaying my EGG credit card via a repayment plan with Arc.

However, I have come home to the following 3 letters:

1) Egg have notified me that they have transferred their debt collection to Moorcroft following the sale of their credit card business to Barclaycard.

2) Moorcroft have sent me an introductory letter asking me to contact them to confirm details, which I'll do in writing.

3) Arc Europe have written to me pleading me to settle with them at a significant discount.

I'm pretty sure Egg sold the debt to Arc, so why would Egg be able to move the repayment plan to Moorcroft?

Is this Egg getting nasty because I haven't responded to any previous Arc letters asking to re-negotiate terms etc..., or is this okay?

Thanks in advance

  • Why do you think Egg sold the debt to Arc? I'd be inclined to think Moorcroft now hold the debt, since you haven't mentioned getting anything from Egg that specifies it was sold to Arc

yea - i've had one the same. i had an egg card - it was passed on to dlc collections, i've now had correspondence from dlc saying it has now been passed to moorcroft.

i'm assuming i just start dealing with moorcroft and mke the payments to them.

i don't know who arc are - are they a debt management company? if they are then i don't think it's up to them who you pay and who you don't. but i would say that yes, you now owe the debt to moorcroft.

I also recently had a Moorcroft assignment letter - don't recall Egg having assigned it to anyone else previously.

I would be disinclined to pay anything to Arc as Egg have notified you that Moorcroft are dealing with it now.

Arc are a debt collection agency. Will Moorcroft expect to re-assess my statement of affairs, and do I need to remind them that I will not accept telephone calls.

I also intend on making full & final settlement offer. At what percentage do I start, and do I base it on the original debt or the debt outstanding today?

SInce October I have written to moorcroft 3 times with full & final settlement offers and each time I have asked them to confirm how I pay my monthly payment via internet banking rather than by sending them a monthly cheque. Each of these letters has been ignored. Moorcroft have sent me standard letters everything month claiming that I have defaulted on the arrangement and/or not paid etc... because cheques have arrived left. Cheques are a complete hassle for me and I'd much rather pay by internet banking.

Does anyone know their bank account details?

    Thanks

If it's a credit card it's the same as Barclaycard sort code and account number ( they are just the DC arm)

"By phone using a debit card by calling customer services on 0844 811 9111 or by using your own bank's telephone banking - tell your bank our account number 38290008, sort-code 20-04-15 and your 16 digit Barclaycard account number to hand."

Why not complain to them about ignoring your letters? Send signed for. If they ignore you for 8 weeks you can go to the FOS.

Thanks folks. I could raise a complaint and wait 8 weeks before referring to FOS, but is it really necessary?

It's actually an Egg card that Prudential sold to Barclaycard. So would using Barclaycard bank details be ok?

Yes, well that's what I did and they wrote acknowledging that they had received the payment :)
