    No he didn't.

    Re-read.

A burglar may be optimistic that the house he's about to burgle has decent goods inside it.

Doesn't mean I condone burglary or that it's a positive thing.

Apology for the idiot remarks accepted.

I have and I never said he thought it was positive.

    And I said
He used potential to rape as example of someone being optimistic.

    I also said
A decision to rape someone has nothing to do with being optimistic or pessimistic. They are in control of what they do and the outcome!

    You can also say
A decision to commit a burglary has nothing to do with being optimistic or pessimistic. They are in control of what they do and the outcome!

It seems you guys have a problem with optimisum and hope.

Hope is the desire for something combined with a belief or positive expectation that it is possible to have what you want.
The dictionary definition of optimism is an inclination to put the most favorable construction upon actions and events or to anticipate the best possible outcome.t is generally characterized by a belief that good is stronger or more prevalent than evil or that this is the best of all possible worlds.

You both keep quoting hopeful situations not optimistic.
Hoping not to have cancer is not the same as being over optimistic in your evaluation of chance of having it.
