BT BILL 'getting away with it' ?

before is start i undertstand that this tread may not go down too well but i am all up for getting one over the big guy and the odd bit of fraud.

recently i lost my job and BT gave me a big bill. I asked to be cut off and a final bill sent they did not cut me off and charged me for another quater. i called several times but didnt get anywhere.

i offered to pay and amount each month but they said there was no way and that it needed to go to debt collectors and that they will charge me 25% for the privillage.

as they have p*ssed me off so much i am trying to get out of it.

Years ago we relised they spelt my girlfriends name wrong and we did nothing . Recently we got married and that name doesnt exist.

so we were thinking of either

a) putting no longer at this address on the letters and send them back
b)saying she was a tennant and did a runner.

normally i would pay no problem but i have been given such as cr*p service i dont want to pay. any help you payment dodgers?

Your best option is to either appeal or ignore. Don't send anything back as RTS you will get a goneaway marker on your credit file. Then you will never get credit.

So if you have a dispute with BT that isn't beinmg resolved in your favour and you never intend to use them again then simply ignore the bill. It will eventually be sold to debt collectors. You'll have to ignore them too. Eventually after 6 years that will the end of it.

If you've offered to pay in monthly payments then they already know the debtor still lives at the address. Regardless of what they say if you cannot pay it in full then I would write to offer monthly payments and then make sure you make those payments.
If they pass it to a debt collector then maybe you'll need to change who you make the payments to but they cannot add on 25% just for passing it to debt collectors.

Or you could dispute the charges for the final quarter and provide details of when you asked to be cut off (send in a copy of the letter or
if you asked them to do this by phone a time and date for the call, and a reference for the call if you took one) and then offer to pay the remainder of the bill in monthly installments.

You ran up the bill you pay for it - simple. Why should everyone else have to shoulder your debt.
