Hello,
Been a long time since I last posted on here. As usual, i've returned with a new question that I am hoping someone would be able to answer.
I basically want to know the answer to the thread question. Is there any restrictions to you having certain jobs after you've declared yourself Bankrupt? i.e. Solicitor/Lawyer? It may be a silly question but i've scrolled a pages of the threads on here and not come across a similar topic.
Many thanks
Angels

not sure about solicitor but definatly not a councilor
Solicitor - The practising certificate would be suspended on the making of the bankruptcy order. Would then be up to the law society as to whether you could continue to practice.
Councillor - You are no longer barred from being one of those. Law changed in 2004 I think?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Whilst formerly an undischarged bankrupt could not hold office in local government whilst bankrupt this has been amended by EA 2002 so that he is only disqualified from so acting if there is a BRO in force against him.
Notes: EA s 267 Local Government Act 1972 s 80(1)(b)[

Basically.
Those sections of the manual have been re-written since then, but the upshot is the same.
---> Ch 25: Restrictions on Bankrupts
Those are legal restrictions only.
Those imposed by professional bodies/memberships and company policies etc won't be covered.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
