I think it does come down to whether each individual chooses to enter

i agree we're all adults and up to us which ones we want to enter. Entering competitions in general means your gonna get spam. As long as its via email they can spam away lol

Most comps 'banned' from MSE are due to continued self promotion, not because the sites are dodgy.

However, comps like these will sell your details to others, so you will get spam emails, post and phone calls. They are not banned because they have not tried to promote themselves here.

Its not illegal so they can be posted, however i myself think they are very un-ethical, and get enough spam from normal competitions, without inviting it in.

Oh, and if you look at their winners lists - you will either not find one or will find the same people win everything!
