Kind of goes against the whole idea of marriage doesn't it?

Comments

  • I think traditional British/Celtic (pre-christian) weddings used to be initially for "a year and a day", at which point the couple could decide whether to continue the rest of their lives together (permanently binding) or separate on good terms, with no 'strings'. I think it's a good idea, in an era when couples could feel heavily pressured into getting married (cohabiting not an option!) to give it a 'trial run'. Often the person you adore for a few hours every day is a nightmare to actually live with!

However, these days, with cohabiting and long-term partnerships very common, I'm not so sure the need is still there, so.. undecided!
    Life on a shoestring!
