Is there an easier and cheap(ish) way to get essential fatty acids in a Veggie OS diet? Can I just check that they're the same as Omegas?!
I tried flax powder, but it's yucky and expensive. Plus I've read consuming it through the day is better than one dose.

I thought walnuts were meant to be a good source of the essential fats, Omega 6 or something?

This is what I use:
Vegetarian Omega-3
It's made from algae. I stocked up a while back when they were half price and with free shipping I thought it was very good value.
Your body can make omega-3s from flax, walnuts and rapeseed oil, but it's not that efficient a process apparently. I use flax as well, in things like granola, bran muffins and banana bread, walnuts for snacking and rapeseed oil for cooking where olive oil isn't suitable.

Despite all the excessive hype about oily fish in the press, there are several good sources of essential fats in the vegetarian diet (I say that as a qualified nutritionist).
Walnuts are indeed good sources, as are other nuts, and seeds - a mix of linseeds, sunflower, pumkin and sesame are all good. Plus green leafy veg have EFAs, as do Columbus eggs.
A ggod veggie EFA supplement is Biocare's Lipocare - if you PM me I'll let you have my trade discount code whcih gets you 20% off.
Hope this helpsLife is not a dress rehearsal.0
