It was OK - it probably could've done with being cooked on a lower heat & for a bit longer but all in all it was a success!0

I used to purchase bed steak from my local butcher when we lived in UK - it as always excellent for fondue. I am in need of some bed steak at the moment and looked on the internet to see where exactly this cut came from - I drew blank. Rang my old butcher in the village where we lived and asked him, it seems its bottom/thick flank, the cut comes from near the silverside. All I need to do now is print of a picture of a cow showing all the cuts, take in to my butcher in Greece and show him what I want - problem solved.0 -
Thanks Mrs Bloggs - I think you have saved the spelling reputation of someone's butcher! Also your really specific description very helpful.0

Bed steak is actually another word for frying steak. You can cut it up into slices and flash fry them for things such as a beef stir fry or you can fry it gently then add gravy and slowly cook it that way.
Bed steak is a term used by butchers but is not commonly known as frying steak by the public. However, I hope this helps you.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money
