Do any supermarkets take money off coupons when you haven't bought product?

A few years ago I used to collect money off coupons and use them against my shopping at Asda even if I hadn't bought the product. Then one day I went in and they wouldn't accept the coupons unless I bought the product. Do any supermarkets now take coupons without purchasing the product? Thanks.

The short answer is no, no supermarket will not accept coupons unless you buy the product.

I got back in to couponing this week and found Mr S took a voucher when I hadn't bought the product.
I intended to but they'd run out. The cashier had trouble putting it through I apologised and explained it may not work as I hadn't bought the product.
It went through ok and she said "we're not supposed to do that but it's gone through so nevermind".
It might be worth a try now and again

our tesco's does as long as its not a clubcard one or printed from the computer. A few times i've taken aa few when doing my big shop and they've not had the things in - but have handed the pile over with my clubcard and clubcard vouchers - and usually as there is a queue they don't even look at them - just scan them.0

Honey, my local Tesco Extra changes its mind every week. One week it will accept vouchers if you don't buy the product, the next week it won't.
Guess you could always try, but if you get a trout SA, she may embarrass you big time.
Loads of love x x x0
