Tesco doesn't take coupons anymore

Went into Tescos Gallows Corner on Tues with a hand full of money off coupons and was informed they don't take them any more.

Only for items that you have bought - just thrown £6 worth of vouchers away!!!!!!!!!!!

Does any one know when this started. Used loads before Christmas

Tesco have altered the coupon policy I think mainly due to abuse over xmas with Somerfield ones being used. (u could argue the SA should have read the coupons they were accepting and refused them )

Every store is different but many still take coupons and normally a % of your bill. mine would take as many as you gave them before xmas now they take half your bill - inline with other stores so they say.

Id try another SA or ask at customer service what the current policy is - they could easily change in a few months.

Retrieve them at once!!!!..........they go thru' phases of stating this, go two minutes down the road to a different store and they'll take all the vouchers you've got.

    It's just swings and roundabouts.

They go through phases like this, you should have kept them and tried using them again next time or given the coupons to someoe on here who could use them rather than just throw them away! I would never throw coupons away, if I couldn't use them I would give them to someone else :A

There is no overall policy-every branch makes up its own rules. I shop at Brislington,Bristol and their rule is one coupon per shop which everybody sticks to. This has not changed since Xmas.

 you threw them away?!! go and get them out of the bin at once! every store has its own made up policies and you can use your coupons another time. if not you could gift them to other people.
If i dont get my coupons accepted one week they go back in my purse for the next when they are accepted! :D

mine were refused today too. i said i usually manage to use one & she said it was policy then proceeded to call the manager & tell him to retrain his staff as they had been accepting coupons!!!!! oh well, i usually only used 1 at a time anyway so not a huge loss.

Tesco accept Sainsburys money off total spend i.e £3 off a £30 spend - they do not accept store specific ones i.e if the coupon has Asda,Sainsburys printed on it

They accept ones which are Tesco product specific and have Tesco printed on only if you buy this product i.e heinz beans and have Tesco on it.

They accept manufactors coupons if they stock the item.

They rareley accept internet printed ones. - personnally not worth the effort printing them off are a pain to use - but print one off say from Home solutions site and try it - you will need to buy the product

Bare in mind all the above changes from store to store and cashier to cashier - its pot luck. If they have computition youll have more luck i.e Sainsburys close by.

The official Tesco policy is - it they stock the item you can use a coupon even if you dont buy the product. Other stores coupons not accepted unless they are Sainsburys money off ones.

BUT the store manager has a right to alter this policy as they see fit, and may refuse any coupons.

I even printed out an email from head office about a year ago and the store over ruled it and refused coupons but now same store will accept 10% off your bill. You cant win its a matter of try and see.

You will be able to use the new H&B ones - if you can find them and the Quit pack ones if you buy the products and meet all ther terms - they cannot refuse these as they are a Tesco promo - Further info on these are on the thread under Tesco Quit packs and Tesco H & B
