How about quiche? Pastry could be made at home - and I wouldn't say it's cheating as I'm sure many OSers make double quantities so often have 'extra' available for later in the fridge/freezer.
Also means you can have it for tea that nightJanuary '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far)

Tut, tut don't know how to make cheese sauce?!
Melt about 2oz of marg or butter in a saucepan, add 1oz of flour, mix together till smooth. Add a small amount of milk, still stirring, then add some more until you have a sauce that's smooth. Mix in as much grated cheese as you want.
Easy!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

thanks everyone, dd knows how to make cheese sauce because she had to make it for macaroni cheese, so we think she is going to make the cheesy tuna bake.
One question though, can you reheat it, she will make it in the lesson after lunch so it will be cold by the time she gets it home and won't want to eat any (not that they are allowed anyway) in school.0 -
bump in case anyone knows if the pasta bake pot o gold suggested could be re-heated.
TIA0 -
Yes, but because she probably won't be able to refrigerate it, I'd be wary of reheating it because of the tuna in it. (I am happy to be corrected as I don't eat fish so am guessing here.)May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

How about cheesey bake? Bake three or four large potatoes in the micro for about 15 minutes till soft. Then slice them and also slice a large onion really thinly. then layer them up in a buttered pyrex dish with grated cheese and salt and pepper in between each layer. Top with grated cheese mixed with a piece of grated bread (to make breadcrumbs) - put in oven for 30 minutes or so until brown. Nice with gammon, or chops.Jane

Personally I wouldnt worry about reheating it, you should see the stuff ive reheated! I havnt died yet!0 -
I was thinking about cheese and potato bake but it would take too long to boil the spuds and then bake them as they aren't allowed to use the microwave.
Gingham, luckily they are able to put the finished product in the school fridges until home time so that won't be too much of a problem.0
