HELP!!!!! DD's cookery lesson

Options
I hope you can all give me some ideas for what my dd can cook in school on Monday, she has about 45 mins preparation and cooking time and what she cooks has to be something using either cheese or yogurt. it also needs to be something that can be carried home on a school bus without making too much mess.

She also can't cook anything that she's already done, so far they have done macaroni cheese, cheese scones, yogurt buns, cheese cake, pizza, cheese and onion pasties.

I will hold my hands up and admit I'm not the most adventurous cook I tend to stick to the things I know and I really can't think of anything she could cook that is possible in the short time she has to do it.

Any suggestions.

How about stuffed pancakes with cheeses sauce....can then be reheated when she gets home
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

  • This looks nice, posted on the OS recipe boards by Crazyhazy.

    Cheesy Tuna Pasta
This was a scottish slimmers recipe I picked up, very tasty, could also make your own cheese sauce.

    mushrooms chopped
    onion chopped
    celery chopped
    packet of cheese sauce
    enough pasta for 2
    tin of tuna
    bag of light crisps

microwave the onion and celery for a min to soften
    cook pasta
make up cheese sauce and add veg, tuna and pasta
put in casserole dish and cover with crisps, put in the oven until piping hot, about 10 mins.

Would Soda Bread take too long? (Yoghurt instead of buttermilk?)

Don't you just love it when schools come up with these things!
    I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.
  • Bit of a weird one but i've made muffins with yoghurt watered down slightly in place of milk:

    I use this recipe:
    http://www.nigella.com/recipes/recipe.asp?article=2043
    Which is quick and easy.

Ok so it's not a *lot* of yoghurt, but if they don't specify who cares ;)

    WOW some great ideas already.

Pot'o'gold how long does the cheesy tuna pasta take to cook? She isn't allowed to use packet sauce, she would have to make it from scratch which might push her over the 45 mins, but if she could manage it I know my ds would love her forever because he loves the asda kids version of it (the only ready meal I ever buy, honest!!)
  • Morning,

It all takes 10 mins in the oven.

Don't know how to make cheese sauce without a packet though? (sad, i know):o
Maybe you do? Can she not mix it before she goes to school? then it's not out of a pkt, but in a little bettaware tub (is that cheating?);)

Sorry, my eldest is only 7, got all this to come!

my dad makes his cheese sauce by just using milk and cheese, he warms the milk up and adds the grated cheese untill its the thickness you want, might add some salt and pepper but thats to taste..
