Lock 'n' Lock- help/advice please!

Options
After reading everyones comments about the Lock and Lock range I went out and bought some of the bowls yesterday from Lakeland.

Am trying not to buy lunch each day at work (terrible habit) and so wanted to be able to bring soup to work... after everyones comments about the Lock and Lock I thought they would be fab for this. However, I made some soup last night, put leftovers in one of the bowls, clicked down the side bits and tipped the bowl....... only to have it leak out:o

Is there anything that I need to do to make the seal better e.g. closing the side clips in a certain order, pushing down on the lid when I close the clips? If anyone could offer any advice I'd be really really grateful.

Thank you!

Lucy

Are these the original lock n lock as they are suppose to be water tight. I bought mine on QVC they we demonstrating how water tight they are by putting a mobile phone in lock n lock and then putting this in water
Maybe you should return it. suzy
  • Hi Suzy,

Yup, I made sure to get the actual Lock n Lock ones as I know other people had said that other brands were not watertight.

thanks for replying... I might try returning them then

I would give Lakeland a ring, their customer service is excellent and they do say that the dishes are leak-proof. I've never had a problem with mine. Good luck.
  • It sounds like you've got a faulty one to me. Mine don't do that, and I don't do anything special. I would return them.

You're probably not as daft as me, but just in case... You did make sure that you didn't spill soup on the lip of the bowl (i.e. outside the seal) when you filled it didn't you. I did once and thought I had a leak until DH pointed out my stupidity.

I'd definitely take it back. Mine came the other day and have already been thoroughly tested and they are fantastic! Don't be put off, you've obviously got a dodgy one.

Definitely take it back, Lock and Lock are guaranteed not to leak.

Lakeland customer service (at least over the phone) is great and I'm sure they will swap or refund you.

  • Thanks everyone for your replies... I will give Lakeland a call.

Glad to know there is not some special sealing secret that I was too daft to work out!! Must have got a dodgy one I guess (although the liquid in the seal thing is a good point!)

    Thanks again, much appreciated!

  • Lakeland are great, if a bit expensive. They take things back no bother at all and will either exchange or refund. I even took one back when one of the side clips fell off - it was quite old but I had others that were even older and they exchanged no problem.

Before Christmas I bought one of their gadgets for slicing bread and said I wasn't really sure about whether it would work. They said "don't worry if you don't like it you can have a refund". I didn't like it - too messy - so took it back and was given my money back. Well done Lakeland for your customer service.

Lakeland have brilliant customer service - they are so friendly and helpful. I buy the lock 'n lock containers from them and they are the best - really seal tight (no spills for liquids) and keeps everything fresh. Also fine for dishwasher, freezer and microwave (reheat only - not to cook in). I highly recommend them!
Take yours back, I am sure they will refund you or replace the faulty ones.
