Can't believe Egg

I have just stopped my dd payment to egg (only due this week), and was going to send them a token payment tomorrow. My mum rang me tonight to tell me that somebody from Egg Bank had called them asking for me and was the number at MY address (which obviously it wasn't) and to call them URGENTLY. I have not lived there for nearly 20 years, how on earth would they have got her number? She is also ex-directory! I can't remember putting emergency contact numbers on any application forms, don't that is is usual practice, is it? Any ideas???

Can't answer how they got the number but they will be constantly phoning it now you have cancelled the DD - we cancelled ours 2 months ago and have made the required payments each month however DH gets at least 2 calls every day asking him to set it back up as it's his terms and conditions!!!
We are thinking of going onto a DMP so we expect them to up the barage of calls any time soon!0 -
Wouldn't mind if they were calling me, but calling my Mum!! I wanna know how they got her number??? She would have a heartattack if she knew the financial situation I am in at the minute!!0

Do you have access to the account via the website? You can check your current phone number they have for you on there on the Personal Details tab?
I suggest if its the one they call your mum on you change it.
If not, write to them and tell them to change.
The website does accept all 00000, I know from experience
Obviously wont help if they need to contact about suspect transactions etc.:beer:0 -

Did you have dealings with Egg, or their parent company / associated companies, when you were living back at home? If so, they will have every phone number you ever supplied them with on their database, and when trying to contact you, they will ring them all.
Similar thing happened to me with RBS. They wanted to query a credit card transaction I had made. They rang my home phone no, I was out, then they rang my mum. Like you, I'd been left home for several years! If you will the end, you must will the means.0 -

If that's the case, you need to follow your own advice: -happy_bunny wrote: »Do you have access to the account via the website? You can check your current phone number they have for you on there on the Personal Details tab?

I was offering the OP some advice and have no idea what issue you have with that and I don't understand your previous post.:beer:0

Well the only reason for my posting is that you quoted something I had said, and therefore appeared to be directly replying to me.
I have no issues with you or your problems whatsoever. If you will the end, you must will the means.0
