Return Lost in post - Can't get a refund

I ordered a memory card from buymemorycards.co.uk in November and was subsequently sent a different cheaper card while still being charged for the more expensive one I originally ordered.
I emailed buymemorycards.co.uk and they told me to send back the wrong card. I did this on 27th of Nov by Recorded delivery (no extra compensation cover) and it still shows as not being delivered. Thus buymemorycards are now just ignoring my emails and I have no proof that it was delivered. Guess I should have used Special delivery.
But anyway my problem is that when I put in a claim with Royal Mail (I'm not in the country otherwise I would have done this sooner) they will send the receiver, buymemorycards, a form for them to complete so I can get refunded. Buymemorycards will have no incentive to fill in and return the form to Royal Mail so I don't know how I can get my money back from either Royal Mail or buymemorycards.

I may be wrong but I always thought the sender of the package had to fill in the claim form from the post office.0

i have had this happen several times and the responsibility is to you to fill in the card to claim back.
The glass is always half full, no exceptions !!:D

The OP is correct. After he filled the form, RM will send the receiptant a form to fill...asking if they DO not receive the post mentioned.
But I would have thought that Recorded delivery DOES need a signature to prove the delivery. So if no signature in RM sysytem, that means the post has been lost, right??0 -
Indeed I WILL have to fill in a claim form, but if the recipient does not fill in their claim form then how would I get a refund. I know that this is how it usually works with normal mail. However the point made about this being recorded mail is a good one as I don't know if the procedure is the same, I'm assuming it is.
I just don't want to be left in limbo with buymemorycards saying we never received the memory stick so no refund and Royal Mail claiming we are waiting for receipt of a form from buymemorycards stating they haven't received the memory stick. If freedom is outlawed, only outlaws will have freedom.0 -
Assuming that you paid by credit card, I would give your CC company a call, as you never actually received the item you ordered.
Explain to them tha you did not receive the goods that you ordered and the retailer is ignoring your attempts to contact them. The CC company should put the transaction into suspence. It the reatailers do not respond to the contacts from the CC company, they shouls issue a chargeback and refund your money.[size=-2] If this post was unhelpful, please tell me.

that's a good example of why it's worth sticking to well known companies like amazon - often just as cheap but after sales service and sorting out problems is brilliant -0
