Reviving an 'Old' freezer..

I moved into my house nearly 3 years ago. There was no room for my fridge/freezer, the kitchen had one built in. The built in one is not very big, and I want to start doing more bulk cooking/freezing.
My 'old' fridge/freezer - which actually was only 8 months old when I moved here - has been stored in the garage for nearly 3 years. Never used it, never even opened the doors. I intended to sell it since it was almost brand new, just never got round to it.
So I want to try to use it to supplement the smaller one in the house.

Has anyone else ever tried to revive an unused freezer like this?Does anyone think it will still work after all this time? Any advice I need to know about getting it clean and fresh again, especially as the door has been closed.

Oh and one other question, my garage does get very very cold in the most extreme winter weather, will the freezer work ok in there in very low temperatures?

    I would use a bicarbonate of soda solution to clean the fridge - freezer interior and any anti-bac spray suitable for food preparation surfaces.
    I see no reason why it wouldn't work, though I'm sure there are more informed people on here.
    Re the low temperatures. I have kept a fridge freezer in an unheated outhouse in the past and currently keep a supplementary freezer in there. I live in the North East and we've had some really cold winters. I've had absolutely no problems with either fridge or freezer, other than the fridge contents sometimes being a bit too cold - near frozen spreads, milk and yogurts!

    It's reassuring to hear that yours works fine in the cold too - good point though about the frozen spreads and milk! I'm not sure I'll use the fridge part of it very much, perhaps to store bottles of wine :rotfl::rotfl: but it has a brilliant setting selection and you can switch the fridge part off so that it's not working to keep things chilled.
    It seems such a shame to not use it, it's a nice big one, as I say almost brand new and it was expensive.

    Bit nervous about what I'll find in there when I open the doors though.....:rotfl:

    Probably a lot of black mould, TBH, so you may have to use a mild bleach solution for that. Be strong!
