Hard times when we all have to sit here and pick holes in our grammar. Honestly, does it really matter in the end as long as you can read someones comments and understand them?
Honestly? Yes, it matters. The correct and accurate use of the language shows respect for those who read it and should inspire confidence in those who use it. It helps in getting your message across accurately. It particularly helps people for whom English is not the first language. Some people, it is true, suffer from dyslexia and similar conditions, but those of us who do not should take care to avoid errors. The rules on the use of the apostrophe are not difficult to learn and apply, and are summarised in the cartoon.

I got the plates for 19p each from IKEA, as well as some very nice crockery in the 365 range for 99p a piece. Highly recommended.

Has anyone told 'Sky News ? - they seem to thing something else' is more inportant to'day.
I apologise, you are quite right. Please can everyone switch over to Sky News to see today's big story - Charlton beat the Villa!!!! Now there's a turn up!
By the way I didn't think much of Tesco's sale - I agree with Dustangle that the Ikea plates are much better value.

Don't know anything about Charlton and Villa, so I won't comment - however _ i agree with you about Tesco's sale and Ikea plates - my wife dropped one of the large bowls from our worktop onto the kitchen floor - to our amazement it survived - at 19p they're almost cheaper that paper ones.

    Have a happy new year' ;) .
