It doesn't matter what I want to happen, it all depends on what the jury think on the day :) I am just the one left to deal with the outcome and its effects on ds :o

    Happy new diary!

I find your budgeting and mortgage pot very inspirational, I wish I could be so disciplined.

We should be moving into our "forever" house in the next two weeks and our mortgage is spread over 26 years!!!! We can afford to overpay by double each month so fingers crossed we can et it cleared really quickly.

I'm already obsessing about figures and need reminding that it's ok to have a bit of fun too so might use your idea of child maintenance being used for treats. I get mine via the csa but it's only £30 per week so gets swallowed in the account without me really noticing it. I shall start setting it aside for something more "fun" for the girlies. :T

Thankyou Pooky, hope everything goes well with the new house :) You must google and find a mortgage overpayment calculator so you can see how much of an effect the overpayments are making, its sooo motvating :D

Hello Gilligan (always read that as Gillian for some reason :)), ...

..and strangely that is where it comes from! I'm one of the few people on here that is called by their own name. It started on my own thread but I've no idea how it came about.

Although I'm not DF yet, I am making overpayments to my mortgage as that's at a higher interest rate than my one remaining cc. I've never asked them if they accept overpayments, I just send the money via online banking. They've never refused it :D

Ooh, check your t&c's, some mortgage compabies will take overpayments but they don't apply them to your account until the end of the year, so in effect they are just holding the money (and gaining the interest on it) rather than you benefitting from the savings instantly  Lots don't, but it may be worth just checking it, if they do then its better to keep it in your own savings account until the end of the year and at least then you get the interest :)

Thanks benben, but they are showing on the quarterly statement so assume they are OK to take them. It may be there is an upper limit though that I haven't reached yet, so will keep an eye on it.
