Hey Rock Star thanks for popping by xx

It is a tough one, but they way we look at it is yes we want to be debt free but not to the detriment of our happiness and wellbeing. You could be debt free but get hit by a car tomorrow or be struck down with som godawful illness.

The balance is not to cut out everything completely but to be frugal, my new key word! My new rule is that i never buy anything, eat out, have a day out or have a holiday unless there is some kind of discount/voucher code etc....carry on with your life but just do it in a different way!!

Maybe you boyfriend could treat you to the holiday and you get some cash together for spending money??? Whatever happens talk to him and explain what your trying to do and maybe you can go bargin holiday hunting?? There are planty of last minute bargains o be had xx

We owe ALOT of money, we know that and were working towards paying it off. But we also want to have a baby next year and debt will not stop us having our life :D. Our rules are keep paying off debts, dont take on any more debt and live within our means!!

    Good luck
    xx

Hope this helps and doesnt sound like a load of old rubbish!! ha ha

I'll second that! I'm not pulling the rug from under the family's feet by saying 'no more spending', however what we do, will now be done cheaper.

Go Max, this is living with debt not surviving under its shadow.

Were setting off for our trip in an hour, conditions were perfect for kiting in Morecambe today so D went out, ive enjoyed having the day to my self and got lots of stuff done and ebay items ready to post!

Emptied fidge and cupboards of food to take to beach house (free accomodation from D's bro). At one time i would have just bought from the very expensive village shop once we get there!! Frugal living makes you feel pretty good!

Ive not spent a penny today but looking forward to a bargain pub dinner later and quite a few beers!!! Hopefully a romantic walk down the beach too

Money Max, that's the impression I got from your posts, that you seem to be reaching a very good balance of paying your debts & living your life!

He treated me to a holiday in February to go & see my sister who lives in the Canary Islands, he always pays for dinner if we go out & he's bought me some new clothes & shoes (Very lucky lady, I know!) so I really don't want to take the mickey! Yes, I'll look for some bargain breaks! Wouldn't do anything else now I'm an MSE convert!
i wish my bank account could keep up with my Rockstar Lifestle!

Hey thanks everyone, we got back last night!! In work now having a tea break, missing the lifestyle already!! Sleeping late, full english for brunch...... Ahhhh holiday!

We didnt relax all week, we did some fell running at Holyhead Mountain and then another day there was this even bigerer mountainy thing, Snowdon!!! Im still in pain, we got up it in 2hrs 15 and ran, yes ran down it in 1 hr 15!!

On the money side of things we did spend more than we planned but it's a once a year treat to be away together alone. And, we used the one rainy morning to compile spreadsheets and play with formulas and percentages and we worked out that we can be debt free (apart from the £30k D owes his brother) by the end of 2014!!
