Agencies that don't listen

I really hate it when agencies don't listen.
Last week I applied for a job advertised by an agency. I had a phone call back asking if I could attend an interview any time the following week.

I told them due to my current secondment, I was only available on Friday, so they emailed me back last Friday (at 5:30 just as they closed) offering me an interview this Monday.

!!!!!!, why bother asking when I was available if they were going to ignore it anyway.

Probably because that's the only day the employer can interview you; so the options were:
A - ask if you can do Monday (your circumstances might have changed or you might be able to re-arrange)
B - not bother phoning you because Monday isn't Friday so you obviously don't want the job.
  • I do understand. I find it less about the practical stuff, e.g. interviewing times, availability etc and more about the actual role. A couple of mine have missed some really key things that they've hesitated on as I mention it on the phone. I guess they have so many people on their books right now we have to highlight these things, though we shouldn't really have to.

If the employer has offered an interview, even on day that you have already said you can't do, the agent is being decent by calling you, to see if you can make arrangements.

I'd be happy to be offered an interview if I was looking for another job - I imagine a lot of people would, even it if meant changing a few things around!

Well, having talked to them on the phone, looks like I'm on for Wednesday. As I have a sore throat, this will be my excuse to leave work early. That way, I won't jepardise my current assignment with a rival agency (mind-you, if I am offered the job, I think they will be well hacked-off as the 2nd agency is in the same Town as my current one)
