Hi all,
I've just received an email from WongaJames@Wonga.com to advise me that I've won £80 3rd Prize in their "Cmon Blackpool" comp. HOWEVER, they are asking me to confirm my bank details so they can pay the money into my bank. I don't feel comfortable doing this - has anyone else every done it? And is it genuine?? Thanks.

Normally when you win money from a competition they will write you a cheque, in this instance it doesn't sound right to me. Have you searched the forum to see if you entered this competition they mention?YOU'VE GOT TO BE IN IT TO WIN IT :j:j0

I do believe that wonga do direct bank transfer for comp wins.
Congratulations xGood Luck and happy 2016 Everyone :smileyhea0 -
I am proven wrong, congratulations on your win

It sounds strange, but you are not giving any more details than you would if you wrote a cheque so pretty safe. If you are uncomfortable with it, speak to your bank and tell them you are giving your details to them for a payment only and block any outgoing payments to them just in case.
Can you remember actually entering this competition, bearing in mind that some take months to give out the prizes? What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Congratulations!Thanks to all posters :A0 -
Thanks you all so much for your advice. I do remember entering this comp, and I occasionally google my name for wins and this did come up, but I thought nothing of it as I had not received an email yet. I feel much happier about giving them my details now - in fact, the money will be spent on the garden, if it ever stops raining!!! Cheers!:DHuge respect to all those who take the time to post competitions. You're all great! :T0
