Mens shaving: manual razor v electric shaver

Hi
Have always preferred a manual razor to an electric shaver as i find a manual razor gives a more closer shave...i shave daily. However with the ridiculous price of Gillette Fusion Proglide blades (around £15 for 6 blades) thinking of switching to an electric shaver such as this which one reviewer describes as "Shaves as close as Gillette Fusion Power!" I did try a top of the range Philips electric shaver around 15 years ago and said never again after finding it very uncomfortable. But just wondering do the latest electric shavers such as the Philips Norelco 1280X shave as well as a manual top of the range manual razor?
Thanks
PS
That Philips Norelco comes with Jetclean system in USA whereas the UK version doesn't which is why i would order it from USA if i decide to go ahead.

Well in the end i went for the Philips sensotouch 3d 1280 electric shaver...bit of a risk, as i bought it from Amazon USA so it couldn't be returned to philips under their 90 day money back satisfaction guarantee. The first shave was wet and was ok (no better or worse than Gillette Proglide razor) though i did get some irritation. Second shave was dry but it hurt like hell and neck was sore...also shave wasn't that close. Had a third shave (wet) today and this time used the correct technique...very light pressure with circular motion and....WOW!!! Gave me the closest shave i have EVER experienced with very little skin irritation. Felt like i was shaving with a soft towel. Instead of shaving every day, i will now shave every 3-4 days as the shave is so close. It was bloody expensive at £236 (incl delivery+ import taxes) but IMHO worth every money for the quality of shave, and of course i don't have to buy every gillette blades every month:T0

I started doing a study of the most economical wet shave razors. I gave up because it was costing too much, but the Azor was the most cost effective for me personally. I have a feeling it depends a bit on how you shave.Student of the science of beauty0
