Foam vs Silk vs Real FLOWERS and where to buy...

Hi All,

I know there are a few threads about flowers, but I've done some searches and still can't find the answers I want - so please help!

I'm getting married on 27th August 2011. We'd originally asked the daughter of a friend of MIL2B to do them. She's doing a floristry course at college and said she'd love the experience. Now she's bottled it and doesn't want to do it anymore. I can't understand why because I have been far from bridezilla about it - I simply asked her to send me some pics from her portfolio with some rough prices - I'm not mega fussy and don't want millions of flowers. So I think the pressure just got to her.

Anyway, now I've contacted loads of local florists and I've only found one who is available on that date. And she quoted me £95 for my bouquet  it was for a simple ivory rose design??!! I also need 2 bridesmaid bouquets, and 5 button holes.

So, now I'm looking at artificial... I know there are foam & silk - but which is the most realistic? Which will look best on the photos and day? And crucially - where is best to get them from??? I've had a play on google to see if I can find a local shop so that I can see the quality in person - but to no avail (I'm in Manc). But I'm scared of buying online without recommendations - so do you have any??!!

Thanks for reading my ramblings & helping me hugely

i ordered the large foam roses (4.5cm so not that large )

i used 12 coloured and 6 ivory for the bridesmaides

and 8 coloured and 17 ivory for me .

i added the pins into the centre of the flowers ,
im not sure if im going to add anything inbetween as i quite like the simple design.

    have to try resize

I had a mixture of foam and real flowers in my bouquet. They looked really good.

I bought the foam flowers from here:

All silk. 60 buttonholes, 10 grooms etc, 2 corsages, 4 bridesmaids posies, 1 Brdies bouquet, one table decoration (Doubling for the back of bridal car) and 10 gerberas for the table vases. All in all they cost about £200 for the lot. Beautifully made too. I used Pretty Polly florwers on Ebay
