The Americans love a barbecue. To them, a day of flame-grilled fun is as important a tradition as our own ritual of drinking tea and complaining that the weather isn’t nice enough for a barbie.
There’s a barbecue contest in the US almost every day of the year, and the finest is held in Jack Daniel’s home town of Lynchburg, Tennessee. Every year on the fourth Saturday in October (2011’s will be held on October 22), teams from all over the world enter the Jack Daniel’s Invitational Barbecue Championships, to find out who makes the finest pulled pork and ribs.
You and a guest could be on your way to this special event, enjoying a tour and tasting at the Jack Daniel’s distillery, lunch at Miss Mary Bobo’s, and a five-night stay in a top Nashville hotel.
