Credit check problem - Guarantor's address not recognised

Options
Hello everyone,

A slightly unusual problem and if I've not put it in the right thread, my apologies...

I'm in the process of applying for a mortgage through a company called the Mortgage Works.

They arrange mortgages backed by guarantors who have no equity so you can borrow a little more than you might be able to otherwise.

But

My guarantor, despite living at his current address for nearly 10 years, is not showing up on the credit check.

For reasons unclear to me, neither his house name nor any slight variants of it seem to be able to be found so that the company can run a credit check against his name.

And until it's resolved, they are not prepared to proceed with our application.

We've tried supplying every conceivable version of the address, we've re-confirmed the address with Royal Mail to make sure it's on their PAF system.

We've also supplied details of bank accounts, proofs of income etc.. which are all tied in to the house name, but so far nothing - not a rejection - just a 'we can't find you'.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I really can't imagine this application falling through for such a trivial reason, but it's starting to look like a possibility. Any suggestions for evidence we can provide/action we can take would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance.

Can the guarantor ask Equifax / Experian for a copy of his credit file?

While you're waiting for the report you could also check how the address is registered on the electoral roll. Experian uses PAF and the electoral roll to target addresses.
