I've been refused credit

I have been refused a contract with Network 3 because of a credit problem. I have never had a credit problem - I don't even have a credit card! The only thing I can think of is that I shared a house with someone who DID have a problem a few years ago. How can I find out where the problem lies, and do something about clearing my credit rating?

it's a myth that house sharing ties you to that person's credit rating so that can't be it.
places refuse credit because the borrower doesn't have enough of a credit score. this could be because your not on the electoral register or that you haven't had a store card or something similar to give you credit 'points'.
i'd start by signing up to experian's free 30 day trial at http://www.experian.co.uk/ and checking your report.
also try searching this site for more information be that in the forums or in martin's articles - you may find that you don't get many answers to this question because you're obviously a newbie who hasn't checked the information already available first! some MSEs can be funny about that!0 -
Get a copy of your credit file. £2 each from the two main providers.
