Have just given in and ordered this, does anyone have it? Wondering if it is as good as last one? Suppose it is really too late to ask as it will be on its way to me soon!

I have it, it's lovely! I haven't made many of the recipes yet but I do remember that the apple streusel cake is gorgeous. It's quite a mixed bag, including some savoury recipes like savoury muffins, whoopie pies, lots of cupcakes, cakes and cheesecakes. I think it would be hard not to like it although you'll probably gain half a stone just from flicking through it and looking at the pictures :D

The first Hummingbird book is one of my most used (and therefore dirtiest and most disgusting) cookbooks, I always wonder how the Amazon reviews are so mixed, a lot of people seem to have had poor results with the recipes but everything I've made from it has been perfect without ever having to adjust/mess with the recipes.

Thanks, also have first book which is well used. I've never had to adjust recipes either, brillant results every time. Just wondered was second as good.
  • I have this! I have made the caramel cupcakes, GORGEOUS! They came out perfect. I am making the raspberry trifle cupcakes for Friday! Its a really lovely book! Going to work my way through it ;)

Wow, book arrived today,(despite the holidays) well done book people. It is beautiful and so full of good recipes, don't know where to start!!
  • I have this book after also loving the first book.
Cupcakes are made using same method as in first book but some cakes are made in the traditional way by creaming butter and sugar first. I made the apple strudel cake earlier and it wasn't that "tall"- didnt rise! Evn tho I followed the recipe to the letter .
hummingbird have a Facebook pg and it's very helpful, someone from the hb bakery monitors t and replies with helpful suggestions when stuck!
Like I was today- I asked and they suggested I didn't cream my butter and sugar for long enough. Really quick replies too.
So if u didn't know about them on fb check it out

Have just sat down to catch up after putting apple strudel cake in oven, Oh my!! I hope mine rises a little, hoping to have it for pudding tomorrow with cream. Thanks for letting me know about facebook page, have had no problems with the first book, hopefully won't have any with this, but good to know just in case.

Strudel cake turned out well, maybe a rose a little to much in centre, was slightly domed. It tasted fantastic along with some custard for pudding! Looking forward to working my way through this book.

I got this book from a friend who had received it in a gift and didn't want it.

My most successful recipes so far have been the Cinnamon and raisin loaf and the summer fruit cheesecake. I've now made at least 6 of the loaves.

I'm planning to make the chocolate and lime cheescake soon and the butterscotch marshmallow bars - they both look delicious.

    Enjoy your book:)
