Handy hint for removing surface scratches on wood

Just thought I'd share a great tip for removing surface scratches on wood.
We got a fab bargain with some lovely furniture from Ebay - unfortunately, there were quite a few scratches on the table top and around the legs (previous owners had a dog).
I was recommended rubbing a (shelled!) walnut over the scratches - and I cannot believe how well it works! You need to get the oils going from the walnut, it is a bit fiddly, but worth the effort - my furnitue looks as good as new. OH was most impressed:T
The furniture is fruit wood, and has a natural sheen rather than the highly polished stuff, but I guess it would work for most woods.
I have had so many fab tips from this site, that I just had to share, and hopefully it will help someone!;)
