Hullo, I'm New.

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello as I join the long road to debt-freedom...

A bit about me/ us:

In our 30s, 2 children and 1 income. I lost my job just under 2 years ago and we had to relocate, which meant that my partner's part-time job had to be left, and she's not found anything else where we are that would cover childcare and give us some extra income.

Our problem is that we have approximately £15000 of debt across cards and overdrafts which has crept up on us over the past few years due to circumstance, and not paying things off when we had the opportunity. This has now given us a large ~£500 a month combined repayment :(, which leaves us in the red each month.

I'm here to chat with people in similar situations, and to welcome any advice that others may have.

Thanks

E

Hi Mister E, nice to "meet" you!

I used to be a regulr on this board, but stopped using it when we started get close to being debt free. However, as you can see from my signature my husband too lost his job and was out of work for a while, meaning lots went unpaid, charges and interest added to everything left, right and centre and stuck us firmly as bad as when we started.

He's started a new job now, and expecting his first wage at the end of the month, so I'm back on here and more determined than ever!

What you need to do now is a Statement Of Affairs (SOA) which is basically an Income and expenditure list. Post it on here and those who have been there, got the t-shirt will put you on the right path.x
