Aww :o Thank you, that's very sweet

I just wish I'd know before, they've gone around in constant consolidation circles, and now I find out £30k of it's secured.

Too much for me to handle alone!

Oh heavens Gemmzie, what a nightmare. You really are being a trooper helping them get sorted out.

I was immediately struck by the Sky payment but you've picked up on that anyway. I'll wait for the full SOA - something tells me it's gonna be scary!

    Well done you :T
If you can't be a good example, be a dire warning :D

    MBNA charges and interest frozen
    Egg/DLC repayment agreement reached

    Feels like progress!

Wow Gemmzie. You must have a fantastic relationship with your parents for them to let you see all their vulnerability.

I see your dad is a smoker, any chance of him addressing this?

    Rum - £80

Um. Just a quick comment. Rum, as in alcohol?

If it's dark rum he likes and he's drinking the branded stuff (Lambs, Cap Morgan etc) - try and get him to try CaneTrader. It's much much cheaper as it's a blended rum but is still really nice and smooth. Me and my Dad both really like Lambs and Cap Morgan and CaneTrade is a good, acceptable alternative at about £5 a bottle cheaper!!! ;)
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?

It is incredibly difficult to try to understand what is going on with loans going out of different accounts, income going up and down - and that is obviously part of the problem they are having.

Would it make sense for them to move all the loans to be paid into one account, and then arrange to keep just a bit back for their personal day to day living in their separate account before putting the rest into the joint account? Being perfectly honest, you are saying that your dad earns on average £2000 per month, and is putting £400 into his own account - in which case he should be putting £1600 into the joint account on average, but that doesn't seem to be happening. The figures on his account don't add up in any case, so either he is running up more debt or he is putting more money into that account than he is admitting.

You have listed debts of £45000 (plus you suspect more?) Do you think that they can cope with this level of debt on their income? My feeling is that they are going to have to speak to CCCS/Payplan and get some advice, because with so much money eaten up by loan re-payments every month, things can only get worse.

It's taken a very very long time, he's just reached the point where he can't cope and he's seen how quickly and well I've cleared £7k of her CCs since March.
Plus, I think they didn't want to overload me before being their child, whereas now they see me as a third adult in the household.

I really hope so, we are going to work on it

Yes, I am planning to address this straight away

It doesn't happen and this is a large part of the problem and he wouldn't say why

There is more, he's just admitted it all and written it down. This is way beyond my depth, and beyond what I suspected.

Both parents are just so worried about losing the house.

Will add the rest of Dad's debts, it is not pretty...
