Argos are currently doing the Fuji S5600 for £112.49. This would be brilliant for an 'enthusiast' - a bit bigger than a normal compact as it has a huge 10x optical zoom, 5 megapixels. I had the previous model (S5500) which was a brilliant little camera.
Just a head's up anyway, compared to what £112 usually gets you this is brill.

I've just bought this camera from Argos. If anyone else is thinking of buying it, be quick! The sale ends today.0 -
I just picked this up on a price match with 110% difference back!0

A much better buy is the Fuji F30 from Argos at £179. This has ISO up to 3200 for perfect low light shots and was voted best compact 2006 by DIMA. Do a google for fuji F30 to see the specs.0

A bit more on this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=311692
As to the "best buy" - depends what you want, big zoom and decent low-light ability or shorter zoom and better low-light (personally I prefer the S5600, better all-rounder).0 -

Especially for the price difference. I wanted a Canon EOS 350d, but us beggars can't be choosers!0 -
