More boolsheet from the government.
Vince Cable stood up & announced that debt funding was secure, & he had found (I still don't know where he got "found" from, but there you go) £27million to replace the FIF money providing debt advice across the nation.
However, now BIS have handed out the money, it appears that there is only £18million.
Kinda like Michael Gove, it appears that Vince can't do his sums either. How to you miss £9million - though I suppose that is easy after you find £27 million.
Where is nearlynew when you wanna quote him?
We are being lied to left, right and centre. Classic game of divide & conquer. Cut all the funding to LA's, then blame the LA's for not funding voluntary groups.
Oh, and in PMQ's yesterday, Cameron stated that the current government were not cutting funding to Citizens Advice. Seems like he struggles with maths too, as well as honesty.

2011-12 Participant Agreements and Budgets.
As you will know from the update of 11 March, discussions with BIS regarding the budget for the 2011-12 commenced last week. The amount of money allocated to Citizens Advice has now been communicated and,at just under £18 million, equates to a 3% cut on the 2010-11 budget, taking into account the existing caseworker vacancies.Citizens Advice are therefore in a position of needing to make savings in order that the programme comes in within the new budget.

It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Wasn't the fund for citizens advice AND other debt groups. The entire budget wasn't for citizens advice, I don't believe?
Your link shows citizens advice got 18m...leaving 9m for other debt groups?0 -

AFAIK, CitA are the only national organisation doing FIF funded work.
But in addition to that, in PMQ's yesterday Cameron stated that "we are not cutting funding to Citizens Advice". And yet:at just under £18 million, equates to a 3% cut on the 2010-11 budget, taking into account the existing caseworker vacancies
People who had their redundancy notices withdrawn as a result of Vince's announcement, will get their notices re-instated.
Cuts I can accept. Debate about cuts I can accept.

National, maybe....
There ARE other organisations who use the fund though...Margie Butler, chief executive of the Mary Ward legal centre in London, said the centre received £400,000 a year from the financial inclusion fund, which was due to terminate at the end of next month.
So theres £400,000 straight away, leaving £8.6m.0 -
Oh dear, looks like someone owes old Vince an apology.0
