Tricky question re pay rise

Hi there. I've only been with my current company for approx five weeks or so. I work as a receptionist.
However, at the time of interview, it was mentioned there may be scope for adding PA duties. (was a legal sec for a while and pa for 8 yrs in previous jobs).
Anyway, the time is fast approaching where I will be asked to be a part time PA for one of the directors at the same time as managing my reception duties.
At the moment i'm being paid £17k for working five days a week from 8.30 am until 6.00 pm.
What salary rise should I ask for and what is best way of going about it?

By the way, the average salary a full time receptionist gets in Birmingham is about £16,500.
The average salary a PA earns in Birmingham is about £24,000 for 9-5 hours.0 -
Hi,
My view would be: half both salaries 17K would be 8,500 for part time and 24K would be 12 and add - that takes you to 20,500. As you seem to indicate that you work onger hours perhaps you could ask for 21,000?
Better to start a bit higher (not to high though) and negotiate perhaps
Good luck0 -

What a great idea? I can't believe I didn't think of it. Thank you. That sounds like the perfect solution.0
