Son's Debts

My son has taken out short term loans (I don't know how many) against his pay. He has lost his job but, he has used my address as the contact for the companies.
Thus far I have had a couple of phone calls and about 5 letters.
Regarding the phonecalls, I have told them he doesn't live here. The letters I have returned to sender.
I don't know wher errant son is staying at present so can't forward mail to him
How is his stupidity going to affect me and our house?
Is there any more I should be doing. (NOT PAYING HIS DEBTS THOUGH!!)

apart from returning the letters and phoning them to say he is not your address, there is not a lot more you can do if they keep hounding you then you may warn them that unless they stop with the letters and calls you shall seek further action against them perhaps legal normaly once you threaten them with this they would then tend to stop with the contact.

If he has used your address and you want nothing to with him check he is not on the voters list at your address and remove his name !

His debts do not effect you or your house in anyway!!

In short I do not have any responsibility for his debts. Thank you Crazyguy for the note about the electoral register!!
and thank you Star-fire regarding the debts affecting our house or us.

I take on board all you have said and WILL act on it accordingly.

You both have helped to take a growing weight off my mind

Due to the job losses, did your son have insurance on any of the loans?

I would check in case it was added and if there was he could have made a claim on the insurance.

You are in the clear, the debts follow the son, not the address.

Silly sod might need a bailout as the interest on these types of loans is HUGE, damage limitation, everyone deserves a second chance - but not a third chance!!

By the sounds of things these are Payday Loans, so unlikely.....
