Finally! He's admitted it

OH has debts - I knew this, but he never officially told me.

Last night he admitted he has 3 debt collectors chasing - 1 is CSA which he has been trying to sort. The other is for finance and 1 more for a phone.

Been a long time since i've dealt with debts so . .

Obviously CSA will be paid

Phone - Can this be statue barred?

Finance - the HP company went bust, OH couldnt afford to pay fully for it so didnt. Need to find out when he last paid.

Am i right in thinking he can send "prove it" letters to the Phone & finance?

Anyone have a link?

Cant give advice but someone will know. Just wanted to say it must be a relief that its in the open and looks like you have been on MSE for a while so he has good support.

yes, send a prove it letter for the phone.

Not sure about the HP.

Do you know when he defaulted? Has he checked his credit file to see if they are on there? (And to check everything else is acurately recorded?)

LAM2011 - yes i've been around a bit now! had another ID but sneaky ex found out and as i was asking advice about visitation I needed to ditch the old me!

Domino9 - Not sure when he defaulted, he will be finding out soon.

I went through all this with Ex and managed to get him (almost) debt free so hoping I can do same now. (ex had £32k!! he couldnt go bankrupt/IVA or he'd lose his job - that was a pain!)

I do think there are "more" debts that he hasnt told me about though - i've sen the same sneakiness etc with ex - avoiding calls, answering door, hiding post etc.

Oh has admitted to a few £k but i think its higher. Will find out when he credit checks lol

Suggest that he does a full credit check with all three agencies. That will give him a clue as to whether any debts are statute barred. it will also show up anything else in the pipeline, although that might lead to creditors locating him?
