Lou's Debt Diary - needing MAJOR help!!!

Hi everyone....

Okay, so i havent been so good recently!!

I had my light bulb moment in the beginning of September, i had no idea how much i owed and was refused credit to get a loan to cover my 2 credit cards which were up to the maximum limit! (it turned out i owed nearly £18800!!!!!!!!!!!)  Im now down to £16953.04!

I have now got my debt under control and am slowly but surely paying it off, i have sold lots of stuff on E-bay - began collecting my £2 coins (they're all gone!!) but the last few weeks, my will seems to be fading.

I am pleased that i've started to sort myself out, but i think im just a bit under the weather at the moment and thought maybe keeping my own Debt diary may encourage me to keep it up whilst i'm feeling a bit blue!!:o

Does anyone else feel like this sometimes?? and how do you manage to pull yourself out of the slump??????

I'm going to try today to have my positive head on and get back into trying to make as much extra money as i can.

Thanks xxx

Oh yes, happens to the best of us (and to me sometimes too) lol!

I just have to look at what's suffering (my kids) and think what I want to do for them, and that generally makes me realise I need to get a wriggle on with it all again. Having trouble atm with xmas coming - overpayments just aren't happening, but they will, and for once xmas will be paid for in advance.

Try and think how you'll feel when they (the debts that is) are gone, and then give yourself just a couple of tasks to achieve over the next week/month, and focus on them. You'll get there lou :)

  • Aw thanks!!

Havent had my computer at home for a while so could only take sneaky looks at this site at work, but i've got it back now, so i'm going to be coming on here regularly again - it does really help!!

I love Christmas and even though it always works out expensive i love it so much! We have all our tree stuff and lights already from last year and i'm making most of the presents this year. We dont have any kids - as yet so its not too bad for us.

Thats half the reason i want to sort myself out - we really really want children but not untill we can afford them, but im only 25 (although everyones says my body clocks ticking - - thanks!!) so hopefully we have a few more years!

  • Hi Lou,

I've seen many similar posts to this over the last couple of weeks. So much so that Moozie stared this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=308634

I think it is because it is the run up to Christmas, the clocks have gone back and the weather has turned really cold.

I've had some serious slippage but I try to take each day as 'fresh with no mistakes in it' 1 , and not beat myself up over yesterday's mistakes. The fact that you are posting already puts you ahead. Chin up.

  • Lou ,

You've paid so much off your debt , you should be so proud of yourself , not many people can tackle their debts with such gusto . I agree with beanielou ,it is such a difficult time of the year to stay motivated ( what with all these fancy adverts telling you what you should be buying !) I always feel a little bluer when the clocks go back and lose motivation all round !, so you're not alone .

Just try to remember what you've achieved so far ( it really is a fantastic achievement)

This is a great incentive to get you back into it!! but be warned you will never be able to actually 'afford' to have children:rotfl: Theyre expensive little b**ers:rotfl: but worth every penny you have to spend on them when they come along. You could always find something else to buy for them if you wanted to!!! But most of the stuff you think is essential just isnt really.

If you do want kids dont forget to be a dfw / os mum!!!! It will save you a fortune.:D

I think its the cold dark mornings and lack of light that doesnt help matters, and it seems still like a long hard slog to get rid of the debt.

but we're all here to support each other, it would be so much worse without peoiple on here to cheer you up.:j

    Good luck
