Speedsell prices - what's going on?

Has anyone here used Speedsell recently to sell their CDs/DVDs? A couple of months ago I visited the site and put in the details of some DVDs I wanted to trade and they offered extremely competitive prices of between £1-3 compared to Music Magpie's 30p offerings.

I then moved house and now ready to trade only to find they're now offering for the majority of my DVDs a meagre 4p - and that's even new and unused in its original packaging - or not accept them at all.

I can understand that things will depreciate in value as time goes on, but I fail to see how you can offer £2.45 for a DVD one day and then 4p a couple of months later - I can only assume they don't want to accept DVDs anymore or have too many to know what to do with and offer a ridiculous amount to trade to discourage people from doing so.

Has anyone else experienced the same?

Hiya, compared a stack of DVD's that I am unlikely to ever watch again. Musicmagpie offered me 6.70, SpeedSell was offering 0 for most of them, just to recycle the DVD's. Sorry you didn't grab the prices when they were there... it sounds like they were offering more than you'd probably have got on ebay for them too, I'm sure they twigged pretty quickly there wasn't money to be made for them at those prices!

I have used Speedsell twice and the prices they were offering me for CD's was pretty good, especially as they were ones I don't use anymore. However, the main problems I have found are:

    1. They do not provide pre-paid labels so you either have to pay to send the stuff in yourself or else you can order a courier but they come between 8am and 6pm...they cannot phone you to say they are on their way and will not accept parcels which are left out. So unless you can stay in all day for several hours, then there is the additional cost of sending it in

    2. If you post the parcel in, you get no acknowledgement that they have received it. You just have to wait a week or so for them to say that they have processed your trade.

    3. The communication is very poor. The first time I used them they confirmed my paypal details and said I would be paid within two days. It actually took more like 7 and they did not respond to any of my messages. With the 2nd trade, they did not respond to messages asking if they had received my parcel. I was contacted on 28th April to confirm my details for payment but as yet I have not been paid. Have contacted them twice with no response and so today sent a letter to their head office. (They have no phone number).

All in all, I would say what they offer is pretty good but they really need to sort out their communications and processing times for payments.

Follow up comment: Since writing this post I have received full payment along with a very nice apology and acknowledgement of my letter.
