Hello everyone . Welcome to the weekly spend challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Yellow - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x

Good luck everyone.

    Afternoon budgeteers

I had a quiet week last week so was green. I have £5 in my purse so going to go for £55 this week and that should be easy enough as I have don't really have any plans. Going to go shopping in a bit to get things for lunch so I can try and take my lunch with me everyday this week.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    Hello everyone!

Checking in to report that I came in green last week with a spend of £25 exactly! Woo hoo!

I'll be back (probably tomorrow) when I've worked out my pledge for this week ... it'll be a big one as I have a couple of big spends lined up for this week and/or next week.
This is my first time attempting a challenge...

Please can I go for £50 this week

Here's hoping...... (Is it odd that I'm strangely excited??!)

Welcome to the thread serendipity1985! RolandChayer-WelcomeSmiley.gif Good luck and, no, I don't think it's odd at all that you're excited ... it's also very addictive! ;) I'm sure Pointy will be along shortly to welcome you officially and to add you to the list.

Have a good weekend everyone - hope the sun is shining on you all! sunshine-012.gif

    Hi pointy,

Been a while since joined in but i'd like to join in again if that's alright with everyone :o.

So a rough estimate for today till friday, hmmm say £50.

    This is

    £15 for ds1 uniform (cadets)
£5 for ds1 swimming and cadets fees
£5 other club fees for ds2
    £2.50 ds2 plimsolls
    So thats £27.50 for now.

The other £25 is for travel to/ fro form hospital and anything else we need.

    Expensive week or what.

Didn't spend a penny today, so thats all good.

Hello everyone, I'd like to give this a try if you'll have me! I want to try and control the amount of Miscellaneous spending I do in a week, especially as the majority of it is food! I take my lunch to work but have a horrible habit of going over to see what the canteen special is for the day. I also have a collection of peppermint teabags on my desk but I'll buy myself a hot chocolate! It's kind of crazy.

So I want to challenge myself to only spend £5 this week on Miscellaneous items, I want to see how I cope!

So far today has been a NSD on the Miscellaneous front, nothing to declare!
    Thank you competition posters!
