Scottish Flat Owner - Don't bother with First Direct

First direct are offering some great mortgage deals at the moment but not if you own a flat in Scotland. There is a different property system in Scotland. We don't have freehold and leasehold. They only offer mortgages to flat owners if the flat is leasehold. In Scotland that is impossible:(

I looked at first direct but I was put off by the fact that you need to open a bank account with them and use it as your primary (or pay in atleast £800 p/m).0

This ended up being fine - no problem buying a flat in Edinburgh through FirstDirect. Switched account as well and they've been excellent.MFW 2015 #41 = £20,515/£20,515
