I suspect that 1998 may be the correct answer.

I did the same and put 1998, yet when I clicked back and changed it to 1994 it seems to accept the entry.

The correct answer is 1994.
We became the first major retailer to stock Caf! direct coffee in 1992, which became one of the first Fairtrade Marked products in 1994. This marked the beginning of our longstanding commitment to Fairtrade and thus Fairtrade became mainstream in the UK for the first time.

I've just tried entering again, with the correct answer this time, and it went through OK. Is it worth gavrc editing the original post so that it shows the correct answer?
