Guaranteed car finance

Hey all,

Sometime ago various car dealers offered a guaranteed finace scheme that seemed as long as you had a pulse you could get finance? I have a very poor credit history and despite trying a couple of lenders ie ACF and Advantage cant get one of these schemes?
Now I am ineed of replacing my car but stuck for help??

Any ideas please :D

  • It may be a bit of a retro concept but have you tried saving?

Your best bet if you want finance is to go to one of the large car supermarkets where the large mark up on cars, additional products, high interest rates means they may give you finance on something they have on the forecourt.

Sorry but this is a money SAVING website. Saving means less paid on interest charges whilst giving you the satisfaction that you have worked/saved hard to get something!

Perhaps you should find a money wasting site Jon ;) As the second part of your post suggests it is going to be an expensive lesson. High cost credit is always best for those with a track record of poor ability to manage their finances.

It may well be, however this section is entitled "Loans" and therefore the OP has asked for advice regarding where to get a loan, not for sanctimonious responses trying to be clever and suggesting he save for it. If he wanted to save then he would have posted in the saving section.
  • And your suggestion was he go to somewhere that is likely to rip him off. This section may be entitled "loans" but often the answer for some people is that they should not get them.

The days of those car finance deals are history, places like Yes and Welcome are now desperate to claw back the money they lent out to people.

Your only hopes are saving, a good idea which has already been pointed out, or going to a place like Carshaft where they will sell you a car at wayyyyyy over list price, dubious extras and a whole heap of future misery. Even then, with poor credit even they might turn you down in these days of hardship.

    The choice is yours grasshopper.
