Weekly Spend Challenge W/C 20th February 2011

Hello everyone . Welcome to the weekly spend challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Yellow - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Please can I join? My budget this week is £60.

So far i've spent £2.00 on postage, 89p on milk and £20.01 on petrol so 22.90/60.00.

My was shattered as early as Monday had to take the dog to the vets and left with a hefty £41 bill. Although not all our budget for the week but certainly a hefty wedge. Still these things are sent to test us.

serendipity1985 - you make the rules. I don't count bills but do count bus pass and food even though I have budgeted for them. Look forward to seeing you posting here.

Ususally I give myself #100 per week to cover food (#30), petrol (#40) and fun money (#30) so was wandering if all of these should be included?

As other have said it is up to you what you include, you make the rules. I would count the fun money and the food if you think you make a saving there but probably not the petrol as that is a fixed cost. But count it if you want to. Hope you join us soon.


Anyway £10 in the pub after work today to do the quiz, we came 3rd which is better than last from last week:D
