Just spoke to customer services (I have so many pairs of old trainers around I thought "great I might be able to get one of the kids a new pair out of this") and they confirmed only one pair of shoes can be returned at a time!

Excellent idea - Helps a great kids charity too!

I think MORE shops should do this sort of thing..0 -
what an earth do they do with worn out smelly trainers with holes in?
do they only accept ones in half decent condition?
have they increased their overinflated prices by another £5 to compensate?
sorry, a cynic!GRATITUDE WHEN GIVEN, PATIENCE WHEN DENIED

Am not sure what JJB do with them but know they can be recycled. Sometimes companies are paid money to sell off things or to show recycling initiative, some Councils are paid for recycling depending on how much in weight they recycle.
I know that Runners Need also allow trainer recycling and I think there are a few normal shoe shops that also recycle shoes. These don't give reward vouchers for doing so though.
I guess some may get disected and sold off for base materials? Others could be cleaned and given away to charities/other countries where footware is not very affordable, but I'd imagine a fair few get chucked away!0 -
I was in JJB today, an assistant told me she thinks the offer is running until the 3rd of June and if you happen to have an old pair of trainers lying about the house, you can take a pair of trainers in, get the £5 voucher without using it on the day and go back any time up til June.
hth someone.:)
I recycled the pair my son was wearing today to get £5 off a new pair but he has another old pair that I might take back, get the voucher and go back nearer the summer for a pair for my daughter.
Having already looked for trainers for my son a few weeks ago, there didn't seem to be an increase in price btw.:)0 -
I spoke to their customer services too, they said i could take as many old pairs in as i'd like but can only use one voucher against one pair of new shoes. i suppose its not good business sense to allow people to collect lots of vouchers, everyone would be getting free shoes!!!
but im going to take in a couple of pairs. they said they can be in any condition as they get recycled for materials so i'll get new shoes for my kids, its a great deal and the kids shoes arent expensive.
more companies should be giving us somewhere to recycle otherwise things just get thrown away....every little helps the environment!
