Well done with the claims, yes get the third one sent off I agree we are just numbers to the banks.
You must remember your bank would have been so keen to help you as they will be getting paid a commision on the PPI they mis-sold you, and probably something for every account they open, I worked in a bank some years ago and left as we were forced to sell products even if the customer didnt really need them its all about numbers and profits.
Think about you and how much it would save you a month without the ppi and also how much you could claim back to clear off the debt.
No more wobbles your doing so well enjoy the wine have one for me.

  • Thanks Herewego

You and Gingerjar are right, will get it off today as have completed the paperwork, just feel a bit anxious and we business bank there as well!

I do honestly think she missold it to me, as we only briefly discussed this in a passing comment, certainly did not explain any detail and for just how long this might pay out. As you can probably tell I am a worrier, and worry about not having anything to worry about! Stupid but it gets the better of me sometimes.

So goal for today get that in the post and await a response (or not), am going to get the second letters together in prep too. Hurrah!

Thanks for the encouragement, all I needed ;)

oooh almost forgot, I am hoping to make a bit of extra cash each month, by selling on ebay, doing a little overtime at work (only now and again as some days work for 18 hours already!), completing surveys and using cashback sites, cutting back on everything else. I would get a second job, but work very long days already, travel for 4 hours each day, plus in final year of study with the OU, so pretty difficult to fit it all in. Also have tons of junk lying around so off to do some car boot sales soon. This lot is probably not sustainable but if i set myself a goal of £300.00 extra a month at least it will keep me focused.

Thanks for the advice Dolly x ;) Have a good day, its Friday Yay

    Hi Dolly

Glad to hear you are going to crack on with the PPI claims, deep breath and in you jump! Also great to hear of the extra ebay and survey money, just remember to leave time for you to enjoy life as you already sound like a whirlwind wonderwoman.

Re your DIL and the money - how rude!!!!! Maybe you could make this the last time you help her with cash subsidies, as you mentioned in a previous post you need to say "I can't afford it" and point them towards this site to help them budget their money and live within their means. It doesn't mean you're a bad person. You sound like somone who looks after every one and is very caring and there are plenty of ways to show love that doesn't involve cash (especially to rude, ungrateful people - sorry, harsh but true!!!!).

Anyway, nearly Friday night and the weekend so keep on truckin' and have fun.

    Love Ginge x

  • Hi Ginge, and thanks for your post.

Re DIL, i was absolutely livid, not surprised but it really makes me mad and I feel like a fool. Have explained that not now in a position to do this anymore, but happy to help them set up a budget, look at finances and help with weekly planning. My DS was v apologetic and he thanked me but not the same really  still fuming!

On a happier note, sent off third PPI reclaim letter, so fingers crossed. still have that sinking feeling about anything to do with banks, but just keep thinking how much money they had that was completely unnecessary. Also thinking about how much debt this might help me shift if I am successful.

Just off now for a lovely glass of wine or three, it is Friday night after all. Have a good night all, its the weekend Yay:wave:

  • Hi Dolly

Well done for telling son and DIL about the money thing. Bit like changing one's personal whole attitude to money and debt, it takes a while to change the people around you (but not as long as you'd think). Just takes a bit of digging the heels and quiet assertion. Which you are becoming very good at :)

Have had jolly evening of red wine, chat and holiday planning - Portugal here we come.

Will wait to hear from you soon

    Enjoy x

  • Hey Ginge

Not terribly lavish, re the cruise, 4 days to the Netherlands and back. But will be a welcome little break for us.

We are hoping to have a Cruise in december for Christmas and New Year, not done this before so really looking forward to it.

We would like to sail to and from Southampton at Christmas, (no airports to deal with) but looking round for the best deals, and the real difference this year will be that I will be paying for it from savings not on CC Yay. First time ever that will manage to pay for it in total and not impact on the plastic.

So the mini cruise will be a little taster of things to come!

Never been to portugal, but looks absolutely gorgeous, its so lovely having something to look forward to.

Hope you had a good weekend Dolly x ;)

  • I thought this month was going to be really tight, with lots of bills that needed paying, plus extra for my son who has just been made redundant and wishes to go back to college to retrain. But on checking today one of the bills is not expected till next month. Although I need to ensure I have enough for next month to pay this, I can't tell you how relieved I am that this is not coming out of this months money.

I have been worrying about paying this bill, as I am only just in the black this month, but also feeling v pleased that not resorted to the dreaded CC either. (Although I have thought about more than once). Keep reminding myself that its all to easy to turn to CC when I think i need to, but this will just be a slippery slope and the reason I have the amount of debt I currently do! So feeling a little bit chipper tonight.

Hope all is well with the DFWers out there. Dolly x

  • Hi Dolly

Netherlands cruise sounds great and excellent to have a holiday with no flying which just seems to suck the joy out of a short break!

Hooray for staying in the black despite the pressures of bills and helping your son in his new career. Stick the credit card in the freezer in a bowl of water (and make sure you haven't got the number available!), I found it focused my mind hugely when I had the spendy bug come upon me and made me cook with the contents of the kitchen rather than doing a Sainsbury's raid because I didn't fancy what I had in.

I hope you are having a good week

    Love Ginge:D
