Thanks for all the post guys (HWG, Dr Rock and DFW321)
I keep reminding myself I am doing this studying thing for fun!!! It is fascinating but quite alot of work too.
Re the sausage rolls, really really easy, you can either make your own pastry or buy it ready rolled or in a block, I just mix the sausage meat with caramelised onions (just lots of onions cooked slowly until golden in colour and yummy). I also put a bit of mustard in with mine, but you can just do raw onion and sausage meat, roll into a sausage shape, place on pastry, fold over, crimp up the edges and cut to size. I glaze mine with egg or milk, then put in the oven for about 15- 20 minutes at 180, or gas mark 5.
They are a great filler and taste really wonderful, nothing like the shop bought ones. And literally cheap as chips!
Any amount saved in a jar is a great achievement, as they say every little helps! I have just been putting all my spare change into a jar and now have over £100.00 in there. Will be put towards a holiday later in the year, hurrah.
Sun was shining big and bright today, what a treat, long may it continue.
Have a good evening all.

Not a particularly good day yesterday. Broke whole tooth off at the gum line, had to go to horrible dentist (they are lovely but i do detest them, and am a real baby). Have to have some major work done as wisdom teeth are causing problems with others. So the upshot is wait for it, a bill of the best part of £1000.00!!!!
As you can imagine this was not in my budget or anywhere near my radar for spending. Again my own fault, I used to have a dental plan, but never got good use out of it, as my teeth are pretty strong and never needed anything doing. So I stopped it and in the short term it was cheaper, but boy do i regret that now................
So I am going to have work my socks off, not only now to pay this but also to keep paying any extra off the debts. one step forward, six steps back. It does need doing as I can't bear the thought of missing teeth and pain. Lets hope the PPI claims come up trumps!!!
Hope everyone's day is a bit better today.

A strange week, working hard, and long hours this week, have also been in quite a bit of pain with my jaw. Have strong painkillers but hurts quite a bit whenever I open my mouth. on the plus side it keeps the eating down!
Have just about got over the shock of the Dentist bill, I am just going to have to be super super thrifty and factor this into my spending.
On the plus side, our paperwork for has arrived this morning for mini cruise to the Netherlands at the begining of April. This was my birthday treat from lovely OH. It will be lovely to have a break and we are staying in London the weekend before.
Have £200.00 saved for the trip which is just 3 nights, all food included so hoping this will be enough.
Have just transferred 2.87 from my account to online Piggy Bank, this idea I borrowed from Herewego and is just rounding down what is in my account to the nearest £5.00. Every little bit helps in the long run.
I had a really strong urge to splurge yesterday, not really sure why, told OH rather than cooking what was on the weekly plan, we would have a takeaway. Bless him he talked me out of it. But also tempted to buy a pair of V expensive boots, I could really do with a pair, but can't afford it, i guess this shows that the force of the spending elves is still very strong. I didn't succumb in the end, but was seriously considering it. The psychology behind this is interesting, and makes me wonder what is going on in my head regarding spending. But I guess I ought to be positive as I did not end up spending so something must have changed, and perhaps its just old habits die hard.
Have taken to leaving debit card at home and withdrawing cash for the week. It feels so strange and I hate parting with real money. Maybe there is a miser in me somewhere?
Have a fab weekend everyone, I am off to have a lovely 10 mile coastal walk and then off to see a friend who is poorly and has man trouble. So I hope no spends today!

Lovely walk yesterday along the coast, was supposed to be spend free, but we had a cheap lunch at a lovely pub. This has come out of entertainment allowance so all accounted for (although I am really trying not spend anything from it)!
Did my shop at Mr Ts last night at 9.30 hoping for bargains but not much about except some fruit and veg. Had a success of sorts, as when the discounted fruit and veg went through they double charged me the discounted price and the full price:mad: Thankfully i spotted it, as thought the spend was a bit high. So firstly used a £3.00 discount voucher, but then went to customer services and in the end after much tooing and froing, I had £9.00 put back on my card for all the hassle. Yay. My weekly shop cost £23.00! Most pleased, but did not get home until 10.30 pm though!
Just completed another online survey, nearly up to the £10.00 mark for vouchers, so will be put towards a birthday or christmas present.
Am out for supper with friends tonight which will be a bit spendy, but will be staying out of the pub until we are due to eat so that will save me a bit of cahs, but lovely not to have to cook a roast. Also studying today, and putting a load of things on ebay to make a bit of extra cash. What an exciting life I do lead :rotfl:

ooooohhh forgot to mention, something else that I am starting to notice about the supermarkets. Needed cotton buds yesterday during my shop. First went to the "cosmetics" aisle, where they were £1.37 then went to the baby department and the same amount, same shape etc £0.35p!
not sure how they can justify that, it really is just ripping people off. In the past I would never have even thought about checking.
Also their BOGOF deals looked like a rip off too. Where you end up with 8 tins of Tuna or something for a 1p cheaper than if you bought them separately. Not nearly the deal they are selling in their adverts. I guess its ok for non perishable things, but just encourages people to spend more than they need. Makes me :mad:Sealed Pot Challenge #1247 = £111.41/£5002011 Made on ebay to date £368.31 (exc P&P)Freebies £15 Amazon VoucherDFW Nerd * 1366, DFD September 2013 :jThe large print giveth, but the small print taketh awayTom Waits, Small Change :mad:0 -
Hi Dolly
Glad to hear you had a good weekend but sorry to hear about your tooth. That sounds sore . Interesting what you said about the BOGOFs in Tesco, it's a shop I rarely use as my nearest one is 13 miles, however, when I was nearby last week I went in for my weekly shop. Nearly all the deals were cheaper when I didn't BOGOF, also the Value fruit and veg were dearer than the "normal" variety - hmmmmmmm!
Well done on resisting the boots, you don't need them it's nearly Spring!!! Still you can feel very:A instead about it.
Sausage rolls sounds good, made some COrnish styley pasties the other day, the only problem was that we sat and ate 8 between 3 of us in about half an hour. Fatsville!
Anyhoo, glad to hear you are still doing great.
Take care

Hey Ginge thanks for the post. not been on here much this week as busy busy busy.
Off this morning to a freecyle thing, bring and take. I.e. you take anything or everything you don't need and can pick up anything that anyone else brings along that you might. Not been to one before, but have loads of things we don't use or want anymore, that are too good for the tip. Also my DS2 would like a TV for his room as split up with girlfriend and now moved back home, bless him he has not had it good this year. So it won't be a flat screen or anything but as long as it works, that will be good.
Had a bit of disappointment on the PPI thing this week, wrote to EGG, asking for all information about my accounts (using MSE form) from the past as wanting to put in a claim to them, and since I have moved house i can't find any of the paperwork. Enclosed a £10.00 cheque, and they wrote back saying as the account is closed, they don't have to give me any information!!! Mind you they cashed the cheque.:mad::mad:
Undeterred as I am, now off to the PPI reclaim thread to see what my next steps are. It just highlights how they treat people.
Also busy weekend studying, despite the lovely sunshine.........
Spent some money on clothes, but for the first time this was to replace two two things that have worn out (holes in the inner thigh) and despite 4 times mending them. It all came out of my clothing allowance of £10.00 per month which i save in an online pot. And I went to Matalan and bought Jeans for £12 and a pair of trousers for £12. Never really shopped here before, thought it was a bit cheap :rotfl: Just the job now!!
Hope everyone has a good weekend, let the sun shine begin.
