Great news Rock Cakes on the no GCSE english, especially as you already have a phD. Or should we call you Dr Rock Cakes now or maybe even Dr Rock for short?

I don' recall you being negative at all, so no need to apologise, if you were it certainly passed me by.

I would dearly love to go back to uni and study, but cannot afford it so will stick with the OU, their materials are truly excellent and I have had some brilliant tutors throughout the 9 courses I have taken. Just got the bug for studying really and don't need it for work, so pure pleasure (although it doesn't feel like it during exam season!). Its then I need to remind myself I have chosen to do this!!

Well done on the no spend week, wow.

Enjoy your walk home, nights are getting longer Yay.

    Hi Dolly

Not posted for a wee while but pleased to see you are going with the cash is King train of thought.

It works for me, withdraw my weekly budget and . . . when I hand over a freshly printed £20 note I feel like kissing it goodbye - "so long good friend!"

Still trying hard to cut myself a little slack - still finding it hard to treat myself or my girls, but getting there. Better overcautious than not cautious in the least I suppose!

Filed my first overtime claim on Monday - looking forward to putting that extra income into savings too at the end of March.

Was so excited by my 2nd ever debt-free salary on 28th Feb that I was awake and on my laptop at 4.30am transferring monies here, there and everywhere!! My MSE-ness has gotten to the point that my youngest daughter asked me if moneysaving was one of my hobbies!! She even reads the supermarket labels to work out which sized packet is the best value for money - result!

On the downside - this afternoon I reversed into a bollard - what an idiot! Luckily one of my friend's husbands is a panel beater - it's not too bad and should come out easily enough. £40 max I should think - goodbye good friends - kiss, kiss x x

Keep fighting the good fight Dolly - it's a great cause!

    bib x

ps £2 coins stand at £118 since 01/01/11 I know I shouldn't count them but I sit at the kitchen table like a miser rubbing my hands in glee!

    Hey Dolly

To be honest I barely use Dr. I am more happy about being a Mrs. :D

Got a letter to say that the uni wants to keep my application for longer. I am hoping this means I will get an interview. Would like to learn either way so I can plan for the year ahead.

Never say never when it comes to a degree. I hate exams!! I remember thinking this when I was doing my A-levels and then I went on to do a degree then a PhD, doh!

Hey BIB good to hear from you. Love the idea of sitting at the table like scrooge counting up the pennies (or £2 coins in your case).

Have found this week using cash only a little daunting but does remind me of the money i am spending, somehow the debit card is just not the same, even though its all budgeted for.

Love that your daughter is another MSEer in the making! It will be a great grounding for her when she becomes and adult and has to face all the trials and tribulations of credit (well lets hope not).

Can't wait for the day when I have a totally debt free paypacket, how exciting, thinking about where it will go!

Have a good weekend, Dolly x;)

Thanks for the post RCs, it does get addictive this studying lark, hope you have a positive outcome from Uni regards your application. Its a studying weekend for me, and an essay to write............I know how to live. But will help with the no spending.

Had a great result last night, went to Tesco to stock up on a few things,
and bought, 4 premium pizzas at 0.40p each, 4 ready meals at 0.26p each, two large bags of potatoes at 0.19p each. Ready meals and pizza in the freezer, gave two pizzas to my son as he was having friends round at his place last night.

What a bargain, and this is food we will eat, (might take a while admittedly), but nothing wrong with it at all, the potatoes are perfect!

Its frightening to think that unless bought this lot will go to waste and the same every day for every supermarket.

I think i will be timing my shopping for night times from now on in!

Have a good weekend all Dolly x ;)

    Hey all

pretty busy weekend, grandchildren were down to stay (unexpectedly) and supposed to be completing an essay for my current course (did alot of groundwork on this but not got very far, but day off tomorrow so will be working on it relentlessly!

Did my weekly shop today at Tesco, and came in on budget, and I bought a number of items for the coming weeks, that were reduced. Freezer is now full of food that is organic or free range but just coming up to its sell by date. I really don't think we have ever eaten such great quality food and i am spending less than half of what i used to. I do so much more baking, and making things from scratch. Although this is a little more time consuming I find it doesn't take too long as I am planning the meals and just take out of the freezer what is needed and batch cook and freeze for another day.

Made lovely crumble today with Apples that were free in a local pub a week or so ago. Picked up a handful as they had a great barrel full and a sign saying help yourself. It was delicious as added a caramel sauce before putting the crumble on top. Yum.

Also made sausage rolls for my lovely OH, with caramelised onions and a bit of mustard, Yum.

Hoping to get some more items on ebay in the next couple of days to rack up some extra cash, all of which will go towards my debts which I decreasing, little bit by little bit!

Hope to hear back from Lloyds this week regarding my PPI reclaims! Fingers crossed.

Have a good evening all Dolly x ;)

    Hi HWG

The PPI claims for lloyds are coming up to their time limit so hope to hear something this week. Will help alot if I am successful and will all go towards clearing debts Yay. Might even clear a couple with the amount I hope to get. Have never done that before without doing it from a consolidation loan. It will be a good feeling.

Today, studying and must complete an essay that is due in. But no work so not all bad (although my job is lovely really).

Making some biscuits later as well, for the storecupboard as saves on buying cereal bars etc, and I control the amount of sugar etc that goes into them. They are yummy too.

    Have a good day all

    Hiya Dolly

Great to hear you are still rockin and rollin! Have not been around recently as I've just been insanely busy applying for jobs and doing lots of headless chicken impersonations. Glad to hear you had such a good time with your brother and then playing with your grandchildren. Excellent!

Bit like you , I have taken to lurking around Asda at 9pm like a MSE ghostie ready to swoop on the whoopsy goodies. Like you say it just all gets chucked away so better we buy it than that happen, eh?!

Well, need to zoom as I am Mum's Taxi tonight.

    Take care

    Hey Ginge

good to hear from you, hope your job applications are succesful! have a great image of you doing chicken impersonations (although no one knows what any of us look like). But still makes me laugh :rotfl:

Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Today essay completed after 8 hours solid at it. But feels good now, phew! Onto the next stage now.

I think for the first time ever I will be in credit at the end of the month on my account. This is another first for me. So will use any left over to put towards debt (hope I am not counting my chickens etc) no pun intended. But based on my budget and what I have spent so far, should be fine.

Have done loads of surveys recently and although v poorly rewarded it all adds up. so have managed to order at lovely cute top for my baby grandaughter, from vouchers from a medical survey, and have about £20 more to follow. These will help with birthday presents for others.
Am saving as part of my monthly budgets for birthdays this year, another first, plus saving £50.00 a month for Christmas which will help alot. So all going pretty well I think. All small things but all helping towards the end goal.

Have a good night all Dolly x ;)
